Why a small team hesitates on live chat
A chat box on your site is a promise. It says someone is here. For a small business, that promise is hard to keep. You might be two or three people. You serve customers, do the books, pack orders. Nobody can sit by a chat window all day.
So many small businesses either skip live chat or put one up and let it go quiet. A quiet chat box is worse than none. The visitor types a question, waits, and leaves.
We built ATON Desk around that problem. ATON Desk is not open to customers yet. It is coming soon. Here is plainly what it does and how it will be priced, so you can decide whether it is worth waiting for.
What answers first
With ATON Desk, an AI agent answers first. It is trained on your website, your files and the answers you give it. When a visitor asks a question, the agent replies with what it knows from your material. It does not pretend to be a person. It says it is an AI. After its first answer, it offers a person.
That last part matters. The visitor is never stuck with a machine. If they want you, they can ask for you after one answer. If the agent's answer was enough, they move on and you never had to stop what you were doing.
When you step in
When a visitor asks for a person, an operator takes over in one click. You get a short summary of what has been said, so you do not read the whole transcript or ask the visitor to repeat themselves. You pick up where the agent left off.
For a small team this is the difference between live chat you can keep and live chat you abandon. The agent handles the repeated questions: hours, shipping, returns, what a product does. You handle the ones that need a person's judgment.
Questions you have not answered yet
Some questions the agent cannot answer, because the answer is not on your site or in your files. ATON Desk turns those into draft articles for you to approve. You read the draft, fix what needs fixing, and publish it. The next time a visitor asks, the agent knows.
Over time the list of things the agent cannot answer gets shorter. You are not writing a help centre from scratch on a Sunday. You are approving drafts about things people actually asked.
Honest limits
- The agent only knows what you give it. Thin material means thin answers.
- Every draft article needs a person to approve it. The agent does not publish on its own.
- Someone still has to be reachable when a visitor asks for a person. The agent reduces that load. It does not remove it.
What it will cost, in Canadian dollars
When ATON Desk opens, prices will be in Canadian dollars, per seat per month. There is no currency conversion to guess at and no surprise on your card statement when the exchange rate moves.
Every plan includes AI conversations. You do not buy the chat tool and then pay separately for the agent that makes it workable for a small team. There will be a free plan, and a trial with no card.
We are not publishing the price numbers yet. When we do, they will be on the site.
We use it ourselves
Atheron's own support runs on ATON Desk. We are a small team too, and we wanted the same thing you probably want: a chat box that answers when we are busy, hands over cleanly when we are needed, and gets a little smarter each week without anyone writing documentation for its own sake.
If that sounds like what your business needs, we would rather you wait for it than put up a chat box that goes quiet.
