If you read one thing
ATON Desk is run by Atheron Network Inc.. This website sets no cookies of its own. For businesses, the conversations in a workspace are the business's records: we hold them for it, in Toronto, Canada, and use them only to run ATON Desk. AI answers are written by Anthropic, outside Canada, and are never used to train its models. Nothing is sold or used for advertising.

01Visitors to this website
This website sets no cookies of its own and uses no advertising or tracking tools. The cookie notice lists everything stored in your browser.
If you send the contact sales form, we keep your name, email address, company, website, the number of seats you asked about and your message, so we can reply. If you do not become a customer, we delete it 2 years after the last change to it. If you do, we keep it 7 years, as a business record.
We send you one fixed confirmation by email, through Resend, which repeats nothing you wrote.
The chat on this website is ATON Desk itself, answered by our sales team. The chat notice below applies to it.
02Businesses that use ATON Desk
When your business creates a workspace, we keep the names and email addresses of the people on your team who sign in, the settings you choose, and the content you give us to train your AI agent, such as website pages we scan for you, files, answers, help articles and catalogue feeds.
The conversations, contacts and files in your workspace are your business's records. You decide what happens to them, and we hold and process them on your behalf, only to provide ATON Desk. The Data Processing Addendum sets out how.
Subscriptions are billed inside ATON Desk with Stripe as the seller. Stripe holds your card details; we do not. We keep your plan, seats, add-ons and what you used, such as AI conversations and message fees.
03Where it is held
Your workspace's database, its files and their backups are stored with DigitalOcean in Toronto, Canada.
Some of the providers that help us work outside Canada, mostly in the United States: Cloudflare and Resend always, Anthropic whenever the AI is on, and others only when you switch on a feature that needs them. The AI's answers are written outside Canada. Where information is outside Canada, the law there may let authorities reach it.
Canada data storage, included in Enterprise and available as an add-on, is our commitment to keep your workspace's stored data in Canada. AI processing still happens outside Canada.
04How long conversations are kept
Conversations are kept for 2 years after the last message by default, or for your plan's limit if that is shorter. A workspace can choose any period from 30 days up to its plan's limit: 1 year on the Free and Starter plans, and 3 years on Team and above.
When a workspace moves to a plan with a shorter limit, older conversations are deleted, and the Billing page says how many and why.
A conversation needed as evidence can be held to a date the business sets, never more than 7 years. Visit details are deleted after 90 days. A message left offline that nobody handled is closed after 90 days.
What the AI writes in a chat (its answers, handover summaries, ATON Assist suggestions, and questions it could not answer) is kept exactly as long as that chat, and deleted with it. Its work outside a chat, such as test answers in the playground and suggested help articles, is kept for the workspace's retention period after it was done, then deleted. Records of what each AI request cost (the model, the amount used and the price, never what was said) are kept 7 years as financial records.
Your training content (answers, help articles, files, feeds and pages scanned from your own websites) is kept until your admins remove it or the workspace closes. Content learned from a past chat is deleted with that chat, and email addresses and long numbers are taken out before it is learned from.
05The typing preview
When a workspace has the typing preview on, which is the default, its team can see what a visitor is typing before it is sent. The chat tells the visitor while it is on. What is typed is passed on as it is typed and never stored until it is sent. A workspace's admins can turn it off.
06Who helps us run it
These providers handle data for us, each only to do its part. The list of subprocessors says exactly what each receives, and which work only when you switch a feature on.
- DigitalOcean, which hosts ATON Desk, stores its data and runs our own search model that helps the AI find the right content, all in Toronto, Canada
- Cloudflare, which carries and protects the traffic to this website and to ATON Desk
- Resend, which delivers emails
- Stripe, which bills subscriptions as the seller
- Anthropic, whose AI models write the AI's answers and drafts when a business turns the AI on, and which does not use them to train its models
- Twilio, Meta, Telegram and Discord, only when a business switches on the feature that uses them
07Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct or delete what we hold about you. If you chatted with a business that uses ATON Desk, ask that business first: it decides what happens to your conversation, and it can act on your request from its console. Where the chat offers it, you can also download your own conversation and ask the business to delete it from the chat itself.
A business can ask us at any time for a copy of its workspace, or to close it and delete its content.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or the privacy regulator where you live.
ATON Desk is not meant for children under 16.

Privacy in ATON Desk chats
ATON Desk is the live chat on the websites of the businesses that use it. When you chat with one of them, that business decides what happens to your conversation and is responsible for it. ATON Desk, run by Atheron Network Inc., holds and processes it on their behalf and only to provide the chat.
What is kept
Your messages, the files you share, the name and email address you give, and the answers to the business's questions before the chat starts.
If you are signed in to the business's own website or app, the name and email address it has for you, which it sends to the chat so you do not have to type them.
The page you were on when you started the chat, without anything after a question mark, the page that sent you there, and your browser in broad terms such as "Chrome on Windows, desktop". These details of your visit are deleted after 90 days.
Your approximate location (country, region, city and time zone), from Cloudflare, which carries the chat's traffic. Your IP address itself is not stored with your conversation. To stop floods of messages, the chat counts requests by a one-way code made from the address, and those counts are deleted within a day.
How long it is kept
Conversations and messages left offline are kept for two years after the last message unless the business sets a shorter time, as short as 30 days; a business on a paid plan can choose up to three years. Files are deleted with their conversation, and so is everything the assistant wrote in it.
A business can hold a particular conversation longer when it is evidence for an order, a dispute or a signed project, until a date it must choose, and never more than seven years.
A message left offline that nobody has handled is closed after 90 days.
Your browser
The chat keeps a random code in your browser's storage for this website, so it can show you your own conversations when you come back. It is not used to follow you anywhere else. Clearing this website's data in your browser removes it, and the chat then starts again as new. Some websites also tell the chat to forget the code when you sign out of them.
Emails
When a chat ends, the business can send you a copy of it by email, and it answers messages left offline by email. These are sent only to an address that is proved to be yours: one the business's own sign-in vouched for, or one you confirmed with a six-digit code we email you. The code email contains none of what you wrote.
Links to files in an emailed copy work for 24 hours; the files stay in the conversation, where you can open them again.
Emails are delivered by Resend, which handles them only to deliver them.
The assistant
Where a business turns on the ATON Desk assistant, your messages in that chat are sent to Anthropic, whose Claude models write the assistant's answers. Anthropic handles them only to answer and does not use them to train its models. A person from the business can take over at any time.
Who sees it
The business's team members who answer the queue your chat is in. ATON Desk's own staff see a conversation only when the business asks for help with it or to keep the service safe and running. Nothing is sold or used for advertising.
Your choices
To see, correct or delete what a business holds about you, ask that business; it can do so from its ATON Desk console. If you hold an Atheron account, asking Atheron to delete it deletes what ATON Desk holds about you in every business's chat as well, except a conversation a business is holding as evidence, which keeps the words but loses your name, address and visit details.
ATON Desk is not meant for children under 16.
